So you just selected your first class in Final Fantasy 14, bought items off the FFXIV Shop to personalize your character, played a bit, and realized that it just wasn’t clicking for you. What now? Will you have to start all over again? Fear not, for you can easily change your FF14 class. Let’s walk you through how to do that.
Are there any minimum requirements to change FFXIV classes?
It’s important to note that you can’t just change FF14 classes immediately in the game. Instead, you’ll have to complete the level 10 quest of the FFXIV class you start off with. This will unlock additional quests for other FF14 classes, which you can then complete. That said, you can buy items for each Final Fantasy 14 class through in-game credits you better get ready to buy Gil FFXIV.
Once you have fulfilled the minimum requirements of each FFF14 class and unlocked them, you can switch between the classes using two main methods. Let’s cover them below.
Changing FFXIV Classes by Equipping Weapons
This is as simple as it sounds! Just equip the weapon associated with your preferred FFXIV class. So, to change from the Gladiator to the Lancer class, just equip the main weapon of the Lancer class, and you’re good to go.
You do need to address one thing with this method, though. While your FF14 class will be changed, you’ll have to either manually change the rest of your gear or hope for the best through the Recommended Gear prompt. This can become pretty annoying over time, so you might want to check out the following method.
Changing FFXIV Classes through the Armory
The armory allows you to change Final Fantasy 14 classes and, at the same time, ensures you get the right gear. This solves the dilemma we were facing earlier!
Once you manually select your gear, you can save your selections as presets using the Character menu. Head on over to the Gear Set button in this menu as in the image above and select the plus sign. Voila! You’ll now be able to equip the full set associated with the FF14 class through the Gear Set menu. Some additional things you can do with this method include:
- Access gear information through the subcommand menu.
- Add the set to the hotbar to access it super-quickly.
- Change the name of the gear set, allowing you to add a personal touch.
Why is changing FFXIV class so important?
Well, for starters, it keeps you from going through the hassle of creating a completely new character and starting all over again when you want something new. Different Final Fantasy 14 classes have different abilities, roles, and gameplay mechanisms, keeping the experience fresh and varied.
